The Burrard Inlet Marine Enhancement Society (BIMES) is pleased to be celebrating several new milestones in their program delivery, thanks to a generous grant from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund, supported by the Port Moody Foundation.

Kevin Ryan, President of BIMES, expressed immense gratitude for the invaluable Federal COVID Recovery Grant and guidance from the Port Moody Foundation, highlighting the pivotal role these contributions play in fostering growth. “The funds received have enabled Mossom to hire a second educational program manager, and we are confident that this grant will help us revive our school programs with the launch of a new website,” Ryan stated optimistically.

New Website and Digital Tools

As a result of this support, Mossom Creek proudly launched a new website at mossomcreek.org, equipped with a host of user-friendly features tailored for program participants, members, and the community. This online platform not only hosts important program and research project details but also showcases the most recent trail camera footage, offering an immersive watershed experience for all visitors.

Welcoming our New Education Program Manager

The grant has also facilitated the recruitment of a new team member, Lauren Kerley, as the part-time Education Program Manager. This new position will help enhance society’s ability to provide outdoor education programming from preschool through post-secondary levels. This addition aligns with the commitment to nurturing a love for nature among young minds. Learn more about our programs and meet our program team, Lauren Kerley and Shelley Frick here.

Acknowledging our wonderful Supporters

The society extends its sincere gratitude to the Port Moody Foundation and the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund for their support during this critical time.

“Without the generous support of our donors, sponsors, and supporters, we couldn’t accomplish our goals. It’s their support that enables us to ensure local kids have hands-on experiences in nature and continue environmental stewardship activities,” remarked President Kevin Ryan.
