Oct 21st Pro D Workshop for Teachers and Educators

Location: Mossom Creek Hatchery Port Moody

Mossom Hatchery and Education Center is offering a free ½ day session led by

Shelley Frick and Ruth Foster. This workshop is targeted for all Pre K, Elementary and Middle School grades. Note: Mossom also offers environmental education for high school students as well.

Spend the afternoon in the serenity of Mossom Creek watershed!

Learn about best practices for teaching environmental education from our team.

Come for 11:30, eat your lunch on our patio, and explore our classroom and hatchery.

Workshop will begin at 12:30pm and run until 3pm.

Hatchery co-Founder/retired teacher, Ruth Foster and Nature interpreter/outdoor educator, Shelley Frick will awaken your inner child and give you a snapshot of what your school’s field trip could look like.

Experience what the students will – we’ll walk you through three field trips in one, so you know what to expect on whichever program you choose.

You will acquire hands-on immersion, with a tour of the hatchery, forest walk, and aquatic invertebrate study and learn about Indigenous knowledge in our ecosystem.

Walk away with physical resources, as well as ideas and techniques to implement environmental education inside and outside of your classroom.

Dress for the outdoors – rain or shine – wear proper footwear for walking in the forest.

Dress in layers – it’s often colder at the hatchery than in the city.
