50 years of stewardship

2026 marks 50 years of environmental stewardship, started by teachers Rod MacVicar and Ruth Foster — who are still hard at it — alongside generations of hardworking volunteers. The Mossom Creek Hatchery has grown into a significant environmental facility involved in salmon enhancement, environmental education, and scientific research.

On Saturday, September 19th, we’ll celebrate this milestone at the Port Moody Galleria and Inlet Theatre. Rod and Ruth will narrate a slideshow featuring the stories and people who’ve shaped Mossom from the beginning.

We hope to see many alumni from Centennial School’s salmon club and fisheries ecology program. We have names but need contact information. If you were involved, or know someone who was, please reach out at info@mossomcreek.org. We’re also collecting photos, stories, and memory vignettes for a commemorative booklet.
